Civil Surgeon Highlights Early Detection to Prevent Disability

JAMSHEDPUR – Clubfoot Awareness Day was observed at the DEIC building of Sadar Hospital on September 9, 2025.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sahir Pal, Civil Surgeon of East Singhbhum, who lit the ceremonial lamp. He emphasized that clubfoot is not a curse and can be treated if identified early.
Meanwhile, Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Prasad, DEIC nodal officer, informed that 22 children, including 17 boys and 5 girls, had been successfully treated in the current financial year.
On the other hand, Mahesh Vishwakarma, executive manager of Anushka Foundation, said that the organization had been providing free footwear, plaster, casting, tenotomy, and bracing to all affected children.
The event was also attended by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tapas Murmu, district leprosy consultant Dr. Rajiv Lochan Mahato, district program manager Vijay Kumar, district Sahiyya coordinator Hakim Pradhan, district epidemiologist Dr. Asad, social worker Namrata Thakur, staff nurse Kamaljeet Kaur, lab technician Rakesh Kumar, and DEIC staff.
