JAMSHEDPUR – A loot of Rs 30 lakh near Bistupur Gurudwara has raised suspicion of a possible ‘Mirchi Gang’ connection. The crime was executed by throwing chili powder into the victim’s eyes before fleeing with the cash.
The incident occurred when Saket Kumar Agiwar, a Hindustan Unilever distributor, was heading to deposit money at a bank. He was carrying Rs 30 lakh in a bag on his scooter. Four men in an Innova without a number plate stopped him on Gurudwara Road and executed the attack.
The criminals hurled chili powder into his eyes and snatched the bag. The entire act was captured on CCTV cameras. Police have registered a case against an unidentified accused and begun investigation.
Meanwhile, questions have emerged about a link with Delhi’s Jahangirpuri-based ‘Mirchi Gang,’ known for using this modus operandi. Jamshedpur police are probing this angle.
However, police officials also stated that confirmation of Rs 30 lakh being inside the bag is still pending. Still, the department has acknowledged that a loot did take place.
Sources indicated that the absence of a vehicle number has created hurdles for investigators. Reliance on informers has also become difficult in this case. Police circles are abuzz with speculation that this may be the work of a new gang operating in the region.
