Married Women Pray for Husbands’ and Sons’ Long Life

JAMSHEDPUR – A large number of married women gathered at the historic Kadma Ganesh Puja Ground on Friday to participate in the annual Kumkum Puja. They prayed for the long life of their husbands and sons during the event.
According to traditional beliefs, women first create small idols of Lord Ganesha and then worship them. Afterwards, they exchange tokens symbolizing marital bliss among themselves.
The ritual is organized every year during the Ganesh festival at Balaji Ganpati Vilas premises. However, this year too, hundreds of women from the area took part in the prayer ceremony.
Local residents said the Kumkum Puja has become a key part of the Ganesh festival in the city. One of the participants remarked, “This tradition gives us strength and blessings for our families.”
Besides, the event added color and devotion to the festival atmosphere in Kadma. The gathering of women underlined the continuing faith in age-old rituals connected with Lord Ganesha.
