Ghatshila Voter List Revision Begins Ahead of Bypoll

Claims and Objections Accepted Until September 17 in Ghatshila

JAMSHEDPUR – A special revision of the electoral roll for the Ghatshila (ST) Assembly by-election has commenced under the direction of the Election Commission of India.

The district election officer and deputy commissioner, Karn Satyarthi, informed that the draft voter list was released on September 2. However, claims and objections are being received from September 2 to 17, and these will be resolved by September 25.

The final voter list will be issued on September 29, 2025. Meanwhile, Ghatshila Assembly constituency currently has 2,51,367 registered voters. These include 1,23,314 men, 1,28,050 women, and 3 third-gender voters. In addition, the rolls also feature 2,648 voters with disabilities and 636 senior citizens.

To improve accessibility, 12 new polling stations have been created in the constituency. Applications for inclusion, correction, deletion, or shifting can be made using forms 6, 6A, 7, and 8. These can be submitted free of cost to BLOs, AEROs, and EROs. On the other hand, online applications may be filed through the portal voters.eci.gov.in or via the Voter Helpline mobile application.

For assistance, the district administration has also activated the voter helpline number 1950. A local resident said, “The new polling stations will help reduce travel for many voters.”
