Tree Plantation and Drawing Contest Mark Celebration of Teacher’s Day

JAMSHEDPUR – Gyan Ganga Public School near Dimna Lake in Boram hosted a Vriksha Mitra program organized by AASTHAA on Saturday.
The event was held to honor Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary, which is observed as Teacher’s Day on September 5 each year.
The program began at 10 a.m. and continued until 2 p.m. First, teachers, students, and members of AASTHAA planted 10 Ashoka saplings in the school premises. Later, students were addressed by Jayanti Dutta and Prashant Krishnan on the importance of nature and environment.
They explained how trees are our friends because they provide oxygen, shade, flowers, and fruits. After this session, AASTHAA members distributed 80 indoor plants in jute bags among the students. Besides, Amrapali mango saplings were given to the secretary, principal, teachers, and staff of the school.
Meanwhile, a drawing contest was organized for students of classes 5 to 9 on the theme “Vriksha Mitra.” A total of 94 students participated in the competition. Winners included Ishika, Shampa, and Rashmi from class 5; Nupur, Siya, and Riya from class 6; Parush, Shrutika, and Ashtami from class 7; Mukesh, Anisha, and Anjali from class 8; and Riya, Sanjana, and Abhinav from class 9.
Gyan Ganga Public School is an English-medium residential institution with around 500 students, including 150 boarders from remote areas. The event also saw active involvement of secretary Madhukar Kumar, principal Nidhi Ghai, and AASTHAA members Jayanti Dutta, Anita Singh, Bhramar Bhattacharjee, Prashant Krishnan, Shatrughan Singh, Rajesh Trivedi, Arun Kumar, S. V. S. Tyagi, Vinod Kumar, and Kamakhya Prasad.
At the end of the program, Shatrughan Singh detailed the objectives of the Vriksha Mitra initiative and AASTHAA’s cultural activities. Anita Singh extended gratitude to the school administration for its cooperation.
