Kulamara village cut off after old bridge washes away in floods

Key Points:

  • Old bridge in Kulamara village swept away by strong water current
  • Four-wheeler movement completely stopped, villagers use motorcycles fearfully
  • Road connectivity between Jadugoda and four villages disrupted completely

JAMSHEDPUR – An old bridge in Kulamara village under Jadugoda area of Ghatshila assembly constituency was washed away last night, disrupting transportation and forcing residents to risk dangerous crossings.

The bridge collapse occurred in Education Minister Ram Das Soren’s constituency. Kulamara village falls under Mati Gonda panchayat in Ghatshila assembly area. Moreover, this region represents the most backward area of the constituency.

Strong water current swept away the dilapidated bridge during overnight floods. The old structure could not withstand the heavy water flow. Furthermore, four-wheeler vehicle movement has completely stopped in the area.

Road connectivity between Jadugoda and four villages has been severed. Kotopa, Bakai, and Netra Beda villages are now cut off. However, villagers are forced to cross on foot or motorcycles.

Residents are crossing the damaged area in fear and anxiety. They have lost faith in government assistance. Meanwhile, villagers have started voluntary labor to enable small vehicle movement.

Minister Ram Das Soren had initiated road construction in the area. The road was built after 25 years of Jharkhand’s statehood. However, the dilapidated bridge construction remained incomplete, leading to this collapse.

Local residents now depend on dangerous crossing methods. Motorcycle riders face significant risks while crossing the damaged section. Besides, pedestrians also navigate through hazardous conditions.

The incident highlights infrastructure challenges in backward areas. Incomplete bridge construction has resulted in complete transportation disruption. In addition, villagers await government intervention for permanent solution.

Whether Education Minister Ram Das Soren addresses this broken bridge issue remains to be seen. Villagers hope for quick relief from their transportation woes. Furthermore, the incident tests the minister’s responsiveness to constituency problems.
