Water Levels Rise as Subernarekha Approaches Critical Point

JAMSHEDPUR – River water levels have risen significantly in the steel city with Kharkai crossing the danger threshold while Subernarekha approaches critical levels, prompting safety advisories for local communities.

The Kharkai River has surpassed its danger level at Adityapur. Current measurements show water at 129.09 meters. However, the established danger mark stands at 129 meters.

Meanwhile, the Subarnarekha River continues rising steadily near Mango Bridge. The present water level reaches 120.38 meters. In contrast, the danger level is marked at 121.50 meters.

Current Water Level Status

District authorities are monitoring both rivers continuously throughout the day. The Kharkai’s breach of safety limits has triggered emergency protocols. Moreover, officials are preparing contingency measures for potential flooding.

Local residents living near riverbanks received safety advisories. On the other hand, evacuation plans are being reviewed. Besides, emergency response teams remain on standby.
