JAMSHEDPUR – Continuous heavy rainfall in East Singhbhum district has created severe waterlogging conditions across Ghatshila subdivision, disrupting normal life and damaging property extensively.
The torrential downpour began Saturday evening in Ghatshila subdivision. Rain continued relentlessly throughout Sunday causing widespread flooding. Both rural and urban areas experienced significant water accumulation.
Bihari Colony in Ghatshila witnessed the most severe impact. Water entered homes reaching depths of two to three feet. Many houses remained submerged up to knee level. However, residents’ food supplies and essential items suffered complete damage due to water exposure.
Meanwhile, Phuldungri area faced similar challenges with complete submersion. The forest department office in this region went underwater. Additionally, nearby shops and residential properties experienced flooding. Shop owners reported substantial losses as their merchandise became waterlogged.
Subarnarekha river’s water level has been rising rapidly throughout the crisis. This development poses serious threats to riverside communities. Moreover, the continuous rainfall has completely disrupted daily life across the region.
Banmakri village in Gudabanda area confronts an even more critical situation. The local hospital became inaccessible due to flooding. Patients cannot enter the facility for treatment. Similarly, healthcare workers are unable to reach their workplace.
Several villages under Mudakati panchayat have become completely submerged. Hareram Singh’s house, located in the village center, remains surrounded by floodwater. Residents find themselves trapped inside their homes unable to venture outside.
On the other hand, rivers and streams throughout the region are flowing above danger levels. Weather experts predict further deterioration of conditions. The India Meteorological Department has issued warnings for continued heavy rainfall in East Singhbhum district over the next 48 hours.
Local administration has been mobilizing resources for relief operations. However, accessing affected areas remains challenging due to waterlogged roads. Emergency response teams are working to establish communication with isolated villages.
Citizens have urgently appealed to authorities for immediate relief assistance. They require food supplies, clean drinking water, and medical aid. A local resident stated, “We need immediate help as our situation is becoming desperate with each passing hour.”
