Municipal Administration Cracks Down on Defaulters, Seals 16 Shops in Medininagar

Defaulters Given Deadline to Clear Dues by March 31

Medininagar Municipal Corporation sealed 16 shops for unpaid rent, totaling ₹2.77 lakh, with further actions planned against defaulters.

Key Points:

  • 16 shops sealed for unpaid rent of ₹2.77 lakh.
  • Defaulters given March 31 deadline to pay dues.
  • Municipal team led by Manager Samita Bhagat carried out the operation.

MEDININAGAR – The Medininagar Municipal Corporation intensified its crackdown on defaulters, sealing 16 shops in the city’s main market and Kachahari Road areas on Monday. Led by Municipal Manager Samita Bhagat, the team acted against shopkeepers who failed to pay outstanding rent despite repeated notices. The sealed shops owe a total of ₹2,77,928.

Persistent Issues with Rent Payments

The municipal team identified and sealed 12 shops in the main market and 4 on Kachahari Road. Bhagat explained that many shopkeepers under the corporation’s jurisdiction, spanning areas like Subhash Chowk, Bus Stand Road, and Station Road, have shown a lack of seriousness in clearing dues. Despite prior notices, defaulters did not comply, forcing the corporation to initiate sealing operations.

Previous Actions Against Defaulters

This marks the third such action by the municipal administration, following similar drives on January 10 and 25. Officials including Magistrate Ashish Kumar, Tax Daroga Pradeep Mehta, and Tehsildar Ravindra Singh were part of the enforcement team.

Deadline for Dues Payment

Municipal Commissioner Javed Hussain has urged all defaulters to settle their dues by March 31. “Failure to clear outstanding amounts will result in sealing of the shops,” he warned, emphasizing the corporation’s strict stance against defaulters.

These measures aim to improve compliance and recover significant arrears, ensuring efficient management of municipal resources.
