State-Level Legal Aid Camp and 90-Day Outreach Program Launched in Ghatshila

GHATSHILA – Under the aegis of JHALSA, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Jamshedpur, and the East Singhbhum district administration jointly organized the state-level Legal Aid and Empowerment Camp at Ghatshila Civil Court premises. The event also marked the launch of a 90-day outreach program to promote legal awareness and public empowerment.

Distinguished Guests and Key Activities

The program was inaugurated by Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Executive Chairman of JHALSA and Judge of the Jharkhand High Court. Other dignitaries included Anil Kumar Mishra, Principal District and Sessions Judge of Jamshedpur, Ranjana Asthana, Member Secretary of JHALSA, Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, and other judicial and administrative officials.

Justice Prasad emphasized the importance of extending the benefits of legal aid and government welfare schemes to all sections of society. “Empowering citizens with legal awareness and ensuring access to justice for the underprivileged is vital for a stronger society,” he remarked.

Welfare Initiatives and Asset Distribution

During the camp, beneficiaries of various government schemes received over ₹3 crore worth of assets, including financial aid for road accident victims, livestock under the Bakra Vikas Yojana, pensions, credit linkages for self-help groups, and PM Awas approvals. Additional benefits were distributed under schemes like Savitribai Phule Yojana, Sona Sobran Dhoti Sari Yojana, and forest land titles.

The camp featured 15 stalls from various departments such as education, health, agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry, social welfare, and forest, attracting a large number of villagers to avail scheme-related information and apply for benefits.

Environmental and Infrastructure Initiatives

The dignitaries planted saplings to promote environmental conservation. Justice Prasad also inaugurated a ‘Vulnerable Witness Waiting Room’ at the Jamshedpur Civil Court and inspected the Ghatshila Sub-jail.

Program Conclusion and Outreach Launch

The event concluded with a cultural performance by students from Kasturba Girls’ School, Ghatshila, followed by a vote of thanks by DLSA Secretary Rajendra Prasad. Justice Prasad officially launched the 90-day outreach program by releasing balloons and visited the departmental stalls to review their activities.
