Crackdown on Unauthorized Sand Activities, Two Vehicles Confiscated

Key Points:

  • Illegal sand-loaded vehicles seized in Seraikela and Kandra.
  • Action initiated under District Mining Officer’s supervision.
  • Officials vow continued vigilance and strict penalties.

SERAIKELA – Authorities launched a significant operation against illegal sand mining and transportation early Friday, confiscating two vehicles loaded with sand.

District officials seized a sand-laden Hyva in the Kandra police jurisdiction near Pindrabera after the driver failed to produce valid documentation. The vehicle has been handed over to Kandra police for further investigation.

Meanwhile, a tractor carrying sand was intercepted in the Kolebira region under the Seraikela police station. It was also seized and handed over to local authorities. This drive aligns with the administration’s goal to curb illegal sand mining and ensure compliance with legal frameworks.

Operation Led by District Mining Office

The campaign, spearheaded by District Mining Officer Jyoti Shankar Satpathy, follows directives issued by the Deputy Commissioner. Satpathy emphasized that the crackdown targets all forms of illegal mining, transport, and storage, aiming to preserve natural resources and deter unauthorized activities.

Authorities Urge Compliance

Mining officials issued a stern warning to individuals involved in such unlawful practices, highlighting that strict penalties would be enforced. “We remain committed to eradicating these activities,” Satpathy remarked, underscoring their resolve to maintain transparency and lawful practices in the mining sector.
