Instructions Issued to Enhance Facilities and Expedite Construction

Key Points:

  • Ajay Kumar Singh inspects slow construction at Medinirai Medical College.
  • Strict deadline set for hospital building completion by August 2025.
  • Plans announced to upgrade the hospital to a super-specialty facility.

MEDININAGAR – A team led by Ajay Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, conducted a surprise inspection of Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in Palamu. The inspection revealed delays in construction, prompting immediate directives to expedite work.

Slow Progress Sparks Concern

The inspection began at the under-construction 500-bed hospital in Pokhara Khurd. Singh expressed dissatisfaction with the sluggish pace of work by Shapoorji Pallonji Pvt. Ltd., which has been ongoing for six years. He mandated completion by August 2025, warning of an 8% penalty for further delays.

Key Improvements and Directions

Singh instructed that super-specialty wards for cancer, neurology, and cardiology be operationalized, along with a 200-bed specialized unit and a 300-bed general ward. He emphasized recruiting specialists currently working in private hospitals to enhance patient care.

On-Site Hospital Inspection

The team later inspected MMCH facilities, including OPD, maternity wards, and diagnostic centers. Singh noted the need for renovation and system upgrades to ensure better service delivery.

Government’s Vision for Health Services

Addressing the media, Singh highlighted the government’s commitment to transforming MMCH into a super-specialty hospital within a year. This includes establishing cardiology, neurology, and oncology departments and reducing reliance on RIMS Ranchi for referrals.

Prominent officials, including Divisional Commissioner Bal Kishun Munda and Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan, were present, alongside hospital administrators and RIMS specialists.
