MEDININAGAR – Thieves targeted five homes in Palamu on a chilling Sunday night, stealing valuables worth ₹13 lakh and leaving residents alarmed.

The thieves struck urban and rural areas, exploiting the cold weather that kept people indoors. Two significant incidents were reported from Husainganj’s urban locality and Kachra village.

Urban Break-In in Husainganj

Praveen Kumar Singh, a resident of Husainganj, reported the theft of valuables worth ₹1 lakh from his locked home. The intruders broke into the property during the night while the family was away.

Coordinated Thefts in Kachra Village

The second major theft occurred in Kachra village, where four brothers, Shilwant Singh, Satendra Singh, Vikas Singh, and Sirja Singh, reported stolen valuables and cash worth ₹12 lakh. They stated that the cold had confined them to their rooms, leaving common areas vulnerable. “We discovered scattered belongings and broken locks in the morning,” said Shilwant Singh.

Police Initiates Investigation

Both Shilwant Singh and Praveen Kumar Singh filed written complaints with the Husainganj police. Officer-in-Charge Sanjay Kumar Yadav confirmed that an investigation is underway.

Authorities are urging residents to take precautions as the thefts highlight vulnerabilities during cold spells.
