Officials Ordered to Address Pending Projects Within a Week

Key Points:

  • 17263 pending projects from FY 2021-22 and earlier to be completed.
  • Poor performance in human workdays creation under MGNREGA noted.
  • Strict instructions issued to block coordinators and employment servants.

MEDININAGAR – A review meeting was held at the DRDA auditorium in Palamu on Saturday, chaired by Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Shabbir Ahmed. The focus of the meeting was on the progress of MGNREGA and housing schemes in the district. The DDC directed officials to expedite and complete the 17,263 pending projects from FY 2021-22 and earlier within a week.

Review of Pending Projects and MGNREGA Performance

During the meeting, it was noted that 5348 projects were pending in Hussainabad, 2766 in Patan, and 1165 in Panki blocks. Block Development Officers (BDOs) were urged to prioritize these pending works. A review of human workday creation under MGNREGA revealed low achievements against targets: Medininagar at 37.27%, Patan at 43.39%, Hussainabad at 46.01%, Bishrampur at 46.51%, and Panki at 49.95%.

The DDC expressed dissatisfaction with the shortfall and reprimanded coordinators for the underperformance. Panchayats with the poorest records were identified, and explanations were demanded from employment servants. Severe measures, including salary deductions and terminations, were recommended for non-compliance.

Housing Scheme Reviews

The meeting also reviewed the progress of housing schemes such as PMAY, Abua Housing Scheme, PM Janman Housing, and Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Housing Scheme. Officials were instructed to address approval and first installment gaps under these schemes within a week. Further, BDOs were directed to ensure the integration of MGNREGA for wage payments to housing scheme beneficiaries.

Focus on Accountability

The DDC emphasized the need for 100% Aadhaar seeding, job card verification, and geo-tagging. He concluded the meeting by stressing the importance of accountability and timely project execution.
