GHATSHILA – A theft involving Rs 15 lakh worth of valuables, including cash, gold, and silver, has been reported from a locked house in Gopalpur village under Ghatshila police jurisdiction. The incident came to light Wednesday morning when neighbors noticed a broken roof door.

Details of the Incident

The house belongs to Sujata Roy, who resides in Bankura, West Bengal, with her daughter Dipali Roy after her husband’s demise. Her two sons, Shantanu and Krishnu Roy, are CRPF personnel stationed in Guwahati and Chhattisgarh, respectively. Taking advantage of the unoccupied house, thieves broke in and looted the property.

Neighbors’ Role in Discovering the Break-In

Around 11 a.m., concerned neighbors observed the damaged roof door and promptly informed Sujata Roy. Upon her instructions, local authorities were notified, leading to the initiation of a formal investigation.

Police Action and Investigation

Ghatshila police reached the scene soon after receiving the complaint. An officer remarked, “We are committed to solving the case quickly and ensuring justice for the victims.” Evidence collection and neighborhood surveillance are part of the ongoing probe.
