11 Workers from Jharkhand Arrive at Ranchi Airport from Africa

RANCHI – Eleven workers from Jharkhand, who were stranded in Cameroon, landed safely at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport, marking their return to India.

These workers, part of a group of 47 laborers trapped in the African nation, were flown to Ranchi via Delhi. The workers included seven from Hazaribagh, two from Giridih, and two from Bokaro.

Officials Welcome Returnees

Senior officials from the Labor Department, including Joint Commissioner Rajesh Prasad and Assistant Commissioner Avinash Kumar Krishna, welcomed the workers at the airport. Their arrival follows weeks of efforts by authorities to facilitate their return.

Struggle in Cameroon

The workers were left unpaid for over three months despite their hard work. In early December, they shared a video pleading for help, which drew attention to their plight.

36 Workers Await Repatriation

While 11 workers have returned, the remaining 36 are expected to reach Jharkhand within the next 10-15 days. Efforts are ongoing to ensure their safe return.
