Boating Operations Begin at Burudih Dam Tourist Spot

Village Committee Launches Service After Week-Long Ultimatum to Officials

Key Points:

  • Joint Gram Sabha launches boat service at Ghatshila’s Burudih Dam
  • Committee had demanded operating rights by December 25
  • Local tribal leader inaugurates operations amid community support

GHATSHILA – The Joint Gram Sabha Committee has started boat operations at Burudih Dam tourist spot after officials failed to respond to their ultimatum.

A tribal leader from Desh Pargana inaugurated the boat service on Thursday. The move came after authorities did not act on the committee’s December 18 memorandum.

Tourism Development Plans

The committee plans to operate the boats according to standard safety regulations. Local experts suggest the service could attract thousands of tourists annually.

Tourism officials had previously proposed developing water sports facilities at the dam. However, the plans remained on paper for over two years.

Community Support

“This initiative will generate employment for local youth,” said a village council member. Over 20 trained operators from nearby villages have joined the service.

Several prominent community leaders attended the launch ceremony. The committee has also formed a monitoring team to ensure passenger safety.
