SpaceX Marks New Era in Space Exploration With Successful Mid-Air Capture of Starship Booster Using Mechazilla Tower.
Elon Musk’s SpaceX redefines space travel by capturing a rocket booster mid-air, showcasing bold innovation, persistence, and a never-give-up attitude.

On October 13, 2024, Elon Musk’s company SpaceX launched the most powerful rocket ever. This rocket system has been designed to send humans to Mars.
The name of this space project is – Starship. On October 13, this heavy rocket had its fifth test flight, but what happened shortly after its launch will change the future of space forever.
Seven minutes after the launch, the booster of this rocket came back towards Earth and was captured mid-air on the giant arms of the same Mechazilla tower from where it was launched.
Initially, it was Elon Musk’s brainchild to bring the rocket booster back and capture it on this launch pad. But there were dangers to it too. If it becomes unsuccessful and the rocket booster crashes into the tower, it may lead to a huge explosion and then no mission could be launched from the launch pad for a long time. When this was initially discussed in the SpaceX meeting, most of the scientists and engineers of the team were against it because they felt a lot of danger in it.
On the other hand, the one who strongly advocated this idea was Stephen Harlow, an engineer from SpaceX. Stephen became the leader of this project on the suggestion of Elon Musk. Four years after this meeting, this idea had taken the shape of Mechazilla Tower.
Let us understand in detail the story of this stewardship which also includes Elon Musk’s never-say-die spirit.
Elon Musk started an internet-based financial company in 1999. The name of this company was x.com. Later, a popular money transfer service called Pay Pal was started from this company. In October 2002, eBay bought Pay Pal for about one and a half billion dollars. Elon Musk was the largest shareholder in this company. Therefore, the biggest share of this deal, that is, $175 million, came to Elon Musk’s pocket.
Musk started a new venture with this wealth. In the year 2002 itself, Elon Musk started his new company named Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, which is popularly known as SpaceX. Because of the huge expenses, even countries like USA and Russia had reduced their interest in space research by that time.
To eliminate this disinterest, Elon Musk’s plan was to send a greenhouse to Mars. When people see it live, they will get very excited about space exploration. Seeing the huge expenses of space research, Elon Musk thought of making the rocket reusable and cost-effective. Earlier, making a reusable rocket was considered almost impossible.
Even NASA or any other space agency of the world could never do this work. But SpaceX went ahead of NASA and other space agencies and created history in December 2015. This success was SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket.
Today it has become the work house of SpaceX. Hundreds of launches have been done from Falcon 9 and many rocket units have also been reused. Overall, all the missions of SpaceX have become reusable. These missions are so reliable and economical in cost that now even NASA now depends on these missions of SpaceX to send its astronauts.
This is the same SpaceX which failed continuously for the next six years after its launch in the year 2002. In the year 2008, due to lack of money, the SpaceX Company was once on the verge of shutting down. But in 2008 itself, the first mission of SpaceX was successful and after that SpaceX changed the history of space travel.
Moral of the story: Any failure in life is not the end of the road. Console yourself with this thought and take another guard.
