JAMSHEDPUR – Police have arrested Mohit Singh, a key accused in the murder of Congress leader Alok Kumar Bhagat, also known as Alok Munna. Singh was apprehended early Saturday near Bhuiyandih crematorium at around 4 AM.
The police had earlier arrested five individuals in connection with the case, while Mohit Singh and Manish Pandey remained absconding. Following his arrest, Singh underwent a medical examination at MGM Hospital before being presented in court.
Sequence of Arrest and Investigation
Police revealed that due to vehicle trouble, Singh was escorted on foot from the SSP Office to MGM Hospital under tight security. After medical checks, he was taken to court, where he is expected to be remanded to judicial custody.
Earlier, Kadma Shastrinagar residents Akash Singh alias Chhotu Bachcha (23), Vishal Kumar alias Bhikhe Baba (21), Pankaj Sahu alias Bachcha (19), Shakti Bibhar, and Vikas Singh were arrested. Police recovered three country-made pistols, one live bullet, and three spent cartridges during the operation.
Motive Behind the Murder
Investigations suggest that the murder stemmed from a clash during Kali Puja celebrations, driven by disputes over dominance and personal rivalry. This led to the fatal attack on Alok Munna.
The arrests mark significant progress in solving the case and ensuring justice for the victim.
