Gang warfare and political rivalry led to planned shooting in Jamshedpur

Key Points:

  • Police arrest five including BJP Youth Wing leader in Congress worker’s murder
  • Murder stemmed from Kali Puja brawl, involved month-long surveillance
  • Two accused including BJP leader Manish Pandey still at large

JAMSHEDPUR – The police arrested five individuals, including a BJP Youth Wing leader, for their alleged involvement in the pre-planned murder of Congress worker Alok Kumar Bhagat.

The murder plot took shape after a violent altercation during Kali Puja celebrations. The accused monitored Bhagat’s movements for over a month before executing their plan.

“The assailants had been tracking the victim’s daily routine meticulously,” said SSP Kishor Kaushal. Moreover, he emphasized that the investigation was based purely on evidence.

The police recovered three country-made pistols and ammunition from the suspects. Meanwhile, the arrests sparked protests from BJP workers at the SSP office.

Political Tensions Rise

BJP Metropolitan District President Sudhanshu Jha led demonstrations against the arrests. Furthermore, party workers blocked police vehicles at Kadma police station.

“This is a clear case of political vendetta against our party members,” stated a senior BJP leader. However, the police maintained their stance on evidence-based investigation.

Previous Threats Revealed

The victim had reportedly received death threats before the incident. In addition, he had temporarily relocated outside the city for safety.

On the other hand, the accused had strategically planned their escape route through Seven Road. The group used motorcycles and an auto-rickshaw to flee the scene.
