Cyber Fraud Foiled: Police Freeze ₹42,000 in Jamshedpur

Victim avoids financial loss after immediate police intervention

JAMSHEDPUR – Cybercriminals targeted Anshuman Prasad, a resident of Post Office Road in Mango, and attempted to steal ₹42,000 from his bank account. However, the swift action of the police prevented the criminals from succeeding.

Anshuman received a phone call from an unknown individual claiming his phone services would be deactivated. The caller asked him to click on a provided link to update his details. Upon clicking the link, Anshuman unknowingly allowed cybercriminals to transfer ₹42,000 from his account to another.

Police Action Saves Funds

Realizing the fraud, Anshuman immediately contacted the police and his bank. Acting promptly, the authorities managed to freeze the amount in the receiving account before it could be withdrawn. A case has been registered at Mango Police Station.

Rising Cyber Frauds in the District

Incidents of cyber fraud in Jamshedpur continue to rise, with scammers using deceptive links to dupe victims. Police have urged residents to avoid clicking on unknown links or sharing personal information over phone calls.
