Event Bridges Gap Between Academia and Industry in Jamshedpur

JAMSHEDPUR – Karim City College, in collaboration with the Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region), organized a two-day Apprenticeship cum Job Mela to enhance career prospects for students.
The event was inaugurated by Satabdi Mazumder, S.D.O. Dhalbhum, Jamshedpur, who emphasized the importance of apprenticeships in bridging academic learning with industry needs. She encouraged students to seize opportunities presented at the mela to connect with recruiters and shape their careers.
Key guests included Ajay Kumar, Assistant Director at the Sub-Regional Employment Exchange, Jamshedpur, and K. Chandra Mouli, Assistant Director of the Board of Practical Training (Eastern Region). Mouli explained the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) and its role in career development. He acknowledged the support of the Government of Jharkhand, Jharkhand University of Technology, and Karim City College for making the event successful.
Dr. Mohammad Reyaz, Principal of Karim City College, expressed gratitude for the Board of Practical Training’s efforts. Dr. M.M. Nazri, HOD of Commerce and the event coordinator, highlighted the significance of hands-on learning for students’ professional growth.
Over 30 leading organizations participated in the mela, including Tata Steel Ltd., Tata Motors, Timken India Ltd., BCCL, CMPDI, RSB Transmission India Ltd., and Tata Blue Scope Steel Ltd. They offered a range of apprenticeship and job opportunities to the participating students.
The event proceedings were moderated by Dr. Aaley Ali, Head of the Geography Department, while Dr. Aftab Alam concluded the session with a vote of thanks. The initiative aims to align students’ academic skills with industry expectations, making it a transformative opportunity for all attendees.
