Tragic Accident in Baharagora Leaves Families Mourning

BAHARAGORA – A tragic bike collision on NH 18 claimed two lives and left three injured in Baharagora.

On Friday, a horrific accident occurred near Hotel Om Krishna on NH 18, Baharagora. Avinash Sharma, 21, and Seema Munda, 14, lost their lives in the collision. Seema was traveling with her family on a bike to harvest paddy in Patbeda when their vehicle collided head-on with another bike coming from the opposite direction.

The second bike, ridden by Rahul Nayak and his friend, was returning from Angarpada after delivering wedding invitations. The impact left Rahul, his friend, and a woman named Somwari Munda with severe injuries.

Police Act Swiftly

Baharagora police, led by Station In-Charge Ishwar Dayal Munda, arrived promptly and rushed the injured to the Baharagora Community Health Center with help from locals. Doctors declared Avinash Sharma and Seema Munda dead on arrival. Due to the critical condition of the injured, they were referred to PRM Medical College in Baripada, Odisha, for advanced treatment.

Political Leaders Visit the Site

Former Health Minister Dr. Dinesh Kumar Sarangi and MLA Sameer Kumar Mohanty visited the health center to assess the situation. They consoled the grieving families and assured them of necessary support.

Investigation Underway

The police have sent the bodies for postmortem to Ghatshila and are investigating the cause of the accident. Locals highlighted the growing danger on NH 18 due to reckless driving and lack of traffic control.

Wave of Grief in the Community

This devastating incident has cast a shadow of mourning over Baharagora. Residents are demanding stricter road safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
