MEDININAGAR – A major robbery occurred at Laxmi Jewelers in Padwa Bazaar, Palamu, late Thursday night, with thieves making away with cash and valuables worth approximately ₹4 lakh.

The incident came to light Friday morning when locals noticed the shop’s shutter open and informed the owner, Subodh Prasad, also known as Vinod Soni. Upon reaching the shop, Prasad found the shutter forced open, the glass inside shattered, and ₹20,000 in cash along with jewelry and utensils stolen.

Prasad immediately informed Padwa Police Station In-Charge Chandrashekhar Yadav, who visited the scene and began an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being analyzed for leads. According to reports, a similar burglary occurred at the same shop on January 8 this year.

In response to the theft, local traders shut down their shops in protest, demanding that the police solve the case promptly and apprehend those responsible. “We need stronger security measures to prevent such recurring incidents,” said one of the protestors.

Assuring the traders, Yadav stated, “The police are committed to resolving this case swiftly and ensuring justice for the victims.”
