JAMSHEDPUR – A human skeleton was found under a banyan tree in Dhobani Mouza, Ghatshila, causing a stir in the area.

Police recovered the skeleton alongside personal items, including clothing and footwear. A hanging scarf from the tree raised suspicions of suicide. Authorities estimate the death occurred three to four months ago.

The discovery was first reported by farmers in the vicinity, and police promptly secured the site. Local representatives, including District Council Member Devyani Murmu and social worker Kaliram Sharma, visited the scene along with Station In-charge Madhusudan De.

Initial examinations suggested the incident might be a suicide. However, with the identity of the deceased yet to be confirmed, further forensic analysis has been ordered. Investigators are working to establish whether foul play was involved.

This area, surrounded by farmland, made the discovery unusual. Experts note that the remote location might have delayed its detection. Similar cases have previously been reported in rural Jharkhand, highlighting concerns over mental health and social isolation.

"The circumstances hint at a personal tragedy, but we are leaving no stone unturned," said a police official familiar with the case.
