Poonam Devi sustained injuries on November 20 while warming herself by a fire at home. Her clothes caught fire accidentally, leaving her with severe burns. She was rushed to the burn ward of MGM Hospital by her family for treatment. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries after nearly a week of hospitalization.
Police have taken custody of the body and sent it to MGM Medical College for a post-mortem. A source mentioned that the incident unfolded suddenly, leaving the victim with no chance to extinguish the flames on time.
