MEDININAGAR – Christian devotees in Palamu celebrated the Feast of Christ the King with fervor on Sunday. A grand religious procession, led by Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, commenced from Shanti Ki Maharani Church on Station Road. The bishop and other priests rode a decorated vehicle, while young girls dressed as angels showered flowers before the Blessed Sacrament.
The procession passed through prominent locations, including Union Church, Shaheed Chowk, and Gandhi Marg, before returning to the church. Traditional hymns were sung, and Father Prabhu Ranjan Masih welcomed the procession at Union Church. The event concluded with a ceremonial mass and prayer assembly in the church hall, where Bishop Mascarenhas delivered blessings and messages.
The bishop reminded attendees of the universal kingship of Christ, emphasizing values like peace, justice, equality, and brotherhood. “Christ’s kingdom is not of this world’s power but one of love and service to humanity,” he said, urging the faithful to embody these virtues for societal welfare.
Devotees from various localities, including Kusumtanr, Redma, and Sadhna Sadan, participated in large numbers. Children from Sunday School added charm to the event by scattering flowers. Vijay Niketan members adorned the altar and church, while a choir from Kusumtanr performed special hymns during the mass.
The Roman Catholic Church was beautifully decorated, and welcoming arches were placed across the city. Faithful expressed anticipation for the upcoming Advent season and the beginning of the new liturgical year.
Prominent organizers like JJ Lakra, Ranjit Soreen, and Augustine Barla ensured the event’s success. This spiritual celebration also marked the start of preparations for Christmas.
