MEDININAGAR – The Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Daltonganj Railway Station intercepted a major opium smuggling operation on Thursday, seizing 1.5 kg of opium worth lakhs. Three individuals, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the case.
According to RPF officials, the suspects were identified as Gyanti Devi, Nagendra Paswan, and Virendra Sahu, all residents of Udaipura Goindi in Palamu’s Tarhasi Police Station area. They were caught during a routine inspection following a tip-off about opium smuggling.
RPF personnel recovered the narcotics from the suspects, who were traveling on a passenger train. The trio admitted they were en route to Chandigarh to deliver the consignment.
The operation was led by Inspector Banarasi Yadav of Garhwa Check Post, along with Sub-Inspector Munna Kumar and female constable Shiv Jyoti Kumar. An FIR has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing to trace the larger smuggling network.
This successful crackdown underscores the importance of vigilant monitoring at railway stations to prevent illegal activities.
