Coal Scam: Ex-CM Koda Moves SC Against Poll Ban

Delhi HC Previously Rejected Plea to Stay Conviction in Coal Block Allocation Case

Key Points:

* Three-judge Supreme Court bench to hear Madhu Koda’s electoral ban appeal

* Former CM seeks reversal of Delhi High Court’s decision barring poll participation

* Earlier conviction included three-year jail term and financial penalties

JAMSHEDPUR – Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda approaches Supreme Court challenging his electoral disqualification following coal scam conviction.

The appeal comes after Delhi High Court rejected his plea for conviction stay.

Moreover, Justices Khanna, Kumar, and Mahadev will constitute the hearing bench.

Meanwhile, the lower court had found Koda guilty alongside former Coal Secretary Basu.

Furthermore, the Delhi High Court cited prima facie evidence supporting the original verdict.

However, Koda’s previous petition was dismissed for focusing solely on election participation.

On the other hand, the initial ruling imposed both imprisonment and monetary penalties.
