BJP Faces Internal Dissent Over Potka Candidate Selection

Meera Munda’s nomination sparks protests among local BJP workers

Key Points:

• BJP workers oppose Meera Munda’s candidacy for Potka assembly seat

• Local leaders gather at Judi Stadium to voice concerns over selection

• Resentment grows as party overlooks strong local contenders

JAMSHEDPUR – BJP’s decision to field Meera Munda for the Potka assembly seat has triggered widespread opposition from local party workers.

The announcement of Meera Munda as the BJP candidate for Potka has ignited a firestorm of controversy within the party ranks.

Moreover, local BJP workers from 326 booths convened at Judi Stadium to express their dissatisfaction with the high command’s decision.

Upendra Nath Sardar, State Spokesperson of ST Morcha, highlighted Potka’s significance as the first Bhumij seat in the state.

He criticized the party’s choice, arguing that it disregards the aspirations of local BJP members.

Several strong contenders, including Sardar himself and former BJP MLA Maneka Sardar, feel overlooked by the party’s decision.

Meanwhile, resentment continues to grow among various BJP leaders in the region.

District Youth Minister Ganesh Sardar and other local party members have vocally demanded a candidate from within their ranks.

In contrast, Meera Munda, wife of former Union Minister Arjun Munda, visited the area to address community issues.

However, her efforts to connect with constituents were overshadowed by mounting protests against her candidacy.

The outcome of the gathering at Judi Stadium will likely shape the BJP’s strategy in Potka as elections approach.

On the other hand, the party faces a challenging task of unifying its base amid internal dissent.

A local BJP worker, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, "We feel our voices have been ignored in this decision-making process."
