Jharkhand Elections: First EVM Randomization Conducted in Jamshedpur

JAMSHEDPUR – Ahead of the Jharkhand Assembly elections, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal conducted the first round of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) randomization at the Collectorate auditorium.

The process was carried out in the presence of representatives from various political parties, ensuring transparency.

During the session, Mittal informed party representatives about the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct and the nomination procedures, ensuring clarity on election protocols.

Before the randomization began, the political representatives were briefed on the technical process to ensure understanding.

In this initial round, the allocation of ballot units (BU), control units (CU), and VVPATs (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) was conducted for six assembly constituencies in the district.

The constituencies include Baharagora (44), Ghatshila (45), Potka (46), Jugsalai (47), Jamshedpur East (48), and Jamshedpur West (49).

A total of 2294 ballot units, 2294 control units, and 2485 VVPATs were allocated for 1913 polling stations in these areas, which include both general and reserved polling booths.

The second round of randomization is scheduled for November 1, 2024, during which the EVMs will be assigned to specific booths.

Senior officials, including ADM (Law and Order) Aniket Sanchan, Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shatabdi Majumdar, and other Returning Officers (ROs), were present during the procedure.

This step marks a crucial phase in election preparations, ensuring that polling machinery is allocated transparently and in line with Election Commission guidelines.
