Jamshedpur West’s Vikas Singh to Contest Independently After BJP Fallout

Vikas Singh, a 25-year BJP loyalist from Mango, Jamshedpur, has announced his decision to contest the upcoming Jamshedpur West Assembly election as an independent candidate, expressing discontent over the NDA’s decision to allot the seat to JDU.

Key Points:

– BJP loyalist Vikas Singh to run independently from Jamshedpur West.

– He opposes the NDA’s decision to give the seat to JDU, citing lack of support for JDU.

– Singh will challenge current Congress MLA and Jharkhand minister Banna Gupta.

JAMSHEDPUR – Vikas Singh, a dedicated BJP worker for the past 25 years, has announced his intention to contest the Jamshedpur West Assembly seat as an independent candidate, following his dissatisfaction with the NDA’s decision to give the seat to the JDU.

Singh, who has held various positions within the BJP, expressed his frustration with the lack of support for the JDU in the constituency. He stated that he cannot work for a party that has no base in the region.

During a media interaction, Singh explained that his main competition in the election will be Congress MLA and Jharkhand Minister Banna Gupta. Singh announced his plan to visit Deoghar for blessings from Baba Baidyanath after filing his nomination, symbolically asking the deity to "fight this election."

He also intends to raise funds for his campaign by asking each voter to donate one rupee. If he wins, Singh pledged to change his name to "Vikas Singh Gulam," meaning "servant of the people."

Singh further criticized BJP’s handling of the Jamshedpur East seat in 2019, pointing out that BJP leader Saryu Roy contested despite earlier claims of stepping back. Singh had supported the party then, but with the seat going to JDU this time, he feels compelled to stand independently.
