JAMSHEDPUR – Xavier School of Management commemorated Dr. Verghese Kurien’s legacy with the 11th memorial oration featuring Amul’s Managing Director.

The event took place on October 5th, 2024, at XLRI Tata Auditorium.

Organized by FACES, it honored the visionary founder of AMUL.

Jayen Mehta, MD of Amul and GCMMF, delivered the keynote address.

He spoke on the "AMUL Model: Transforming Lives of Million."

Moreover, Nirmala Kurien, daughter of Dr. Kurien, graced the occasion.

The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp.

Fr S George, S.J., XLRI Director, highlighted Dr. Kurien’s impactful legacy.

He emphasized India’s position as the largest milk producer since 1997.

Furthermore, he noted the industry’s impact on 70 million rural households.

Remarkably, 70% of the dairy workforce comprises women.

Meanwhile, Nirmala Kurien reaffirmed her father’s belief in life as a privilege.

She shared his guiding words: "Dream big, challenge wrongs, strive for greater good."

Additionally, she highlighted Dr. Kurien’s role in bridging rural economic disparities.

A tribute video honoring the "Milkman of India" was also shown.

On the other hand, the event showcased XLRI’s commitment to sustainability.

In conclusion, Dr. Sanjay Patro delivered the vote of thanks.
