GHATSHILA – Congress workers blocked a main road in Ghatshila to protest the poor condition of a crucial thoroughfare, demanding immediate repairs.

The demonstration, led by senior Congress leader Tapas Chatterjee, took place near Durga Mishthan Bhandar.

Protesters expressed anger towards the administration and local representatives for neglecting the issue.

Moreover, they raised slogans while sitting on the road to highlight their grievances.

Chatterjee emphasized that the main road’s condition has deteriorated significantly, making travel extremely difficult.

Furthermore, he pointed out that frequent accidents occur due to the road’s poor state.

The Congress leader accused the local MP and MLA of inaction despite using the road daily.

In addition, he stated that the protest aimed to draw attention to the public’s suffering.

Chatterjee warned of intensified agitation if road construction doesn’t begin before Durga Puja.

Meanwhile, the 15-minute road blockade served as a initial demonstration of their resolve.

On the other hand, the upcoming festival season has added urgency to the demand for repairs.

The protest saw participation from various local Congress leaders and members.

Kanhaiya Sharma, Ghatshila Mandal President, was present at the demonstration.

Additionally, Naresh Mahakud, Dampada Mandal President, joined the protest.

Other notable attendees included Sheikh Farooq and Uday Sharma, Congress Assembly Executive President.

Mohammed Hanif (Amu) and Moinuddin Siddiqui also showed their support at the event.
