PM Modi lauds Jharkhand entrepreneur Prerna Mishra in Mann Ki Baat address

Village e-commerce venture gains national spotlight, boosts local economy

A young Godda entrepreneur’s e-commerce initiative promoting traditional village products received recognition from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his recent Mann Ki Baat address.

RANCHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted a local entrepreneur’s efforts to boost her village’s economy through e-commerce in his latest Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast.

Prerna Mishra, a 28-year-old innovator from Dande village in Godda district’s Podiyahat block, has been making waves with her unique business model.

For the past three years, Mishra has been spearheading an e-commerce venture that markets traditional food items from her village.

Her initiative focuses on selling local specialties such as Sattu masala and rice through major online platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.

This enterprising approach has not only provided a wider market for village-made products but also contributed significantly to the local economy.

The Prime Minister’s acknowledgment came during the 111th edition of his monthly radio program, marking his first address following the recent Lok Sabha elections.

"Receiving recognition from the Prime Minister himself is incredibly motivating. It reinforces our belief in the power of grassroots entrepreneurship," Mishra remarked when reached for comment.

The broadcast event drew significant attention in Dande village, with local women gathering to watch the program on a large screen.

Experts suggest that such innovative rural e-commerce models could potentially transform village economies across India.

The national spotlight on Mishra’s venture is expected to inspire similar initiatives in other rural areas, potentially leading to a ripple effect of economic growth.
