Road Construction Work on Seraikela-Odisha Route Begins Amid Heavy Security

District Administration Faces Strong Opposition from Villagers in Titirbila

On Saturday, the police-administration began the bypass work on the Seraikela-Odisha road in Titirbila Mauja under heavy security due to strong opposition from villagers.

JAMSHEDPUR – Amidst heavy security, the district administration commenced the bypass construction work on the Seraikela-Odisha road in Titirbila Mauja on Saturday.

Facing strong opposition from the villagers, the administration deployed hundreds of forces to ensure the work proceeded smoothly.

The strict measures by the administration have intimidated the villagers, who approached the administration with a proposal for talks.

However, the officials did not entertain the villagers’ request and sent them back.

On the previous day, the administration resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse protesting villagers, resulting in several injuries.

An FIR has been registered against seven named individuals and others involved in the protest.

On Saturday, the administration returned to Titirbila fully prepared and resumed the road construction work.

The new road will facilitate easy travel between Jharkhand and Odisha.

Villagers claim that the work is being carried out without permission from the Gram Sabha, stating that the land belongs to their ancestors and is used for traditional worship.

The said road was inaugurated two years ago by the local MLA Champai Soren, who is now the Chief Minister of the state.

This area falls within his constituency.

Despite the commencement of work, tension remains high in the area.
