Election Campaigning Ban to be Enforced 48 Hours Before Jamshedpur Lok Sabha Polls

ECI Implements Strict Measures to Ensure Free and Fair Elections

A strict ban on election campaigning will be enforced 48 hours before the conclusion of voting for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency.

JAMSHEDPUR – This measure, in accordance with Section 126 of the Public Representation Act 1951, aims to ensure a free and fair electoral process.

According to the Act, public meetings and processions related to the election are prohibited during this period.

The public exhibition of election materials through media such as cinema and television is also banned.

Additionally, musical concerts, theatrical performances, or any entertainment meant to attract the public towards election matters are forbidden.

Individuals found violating these provisions can face imprisonment for up to two years, a fine, or both.

Political workers and campaigners from outside the district must leave by 5:00 PM on May 23, 2024.

This directive applies to individuals who are not voters or candidates in the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency.

External political workers found campaigning or present in the constituency after the specified period will face legal action.

The Election Commission emphasizes the removal of external political functionaries to maintain an impartial polling environment.

The presence of these individuals beyond the campaigning period could compromise the integrity of the election process.

An official statement from the Election Commission of India underscores the necessity of removing external campaign functionaries.

Their continued presence after the campaign ends may undermine the atmosphere for a free and fair poll.

By enforcing these regulations, the Election Commission aims to uphold the democratic process.

The ECI’s enforcement of a 48-hour ban on election campaigning and the removal of external political workers highlights the importance of maintaining the sanctity of the electoral process.

Citizens are urged to comply with these regulations to contribute to a smooth and fair election.
