Court Sentences Two for Dumka Resident’s Murder
In a landmark verdict, the court of First Additional District and Sessions Judge cum POCSO Court Special Judge Ramesh Chandra has handed down life imprisonment to Shahrukh Hussain and Naeem Ansari for the murder of Dumka resident Ankita. The accused were involved in a heinous act on August 23, 2022, where they doused Ankita with petrol and set her ablaze, leading to widespread outrage and a call for justice.
RANCHI – In a significant verdict, the court of First Additional District and Sessions Judge cum POCSO Court Special Judge Ramesh Chandra gave life imprisonment to Shahrukh Hussain and Naeem Ansari for the murder of Dumka resident Ankita.
The verdict, pronounced after detailed court deliberations, marks a crucial juncture in the fight against gender-based violence in Jharkhand.
This case, widely known as the petrol murder case, has seen the conviction of both accused on March 19, followed by the sentencing to life imprisonment, reflecting the court’s commitment to stringent punishment for such brutal acts.
The Karni Sena Jharkhand, having provided unwavering support to the victim’s family, welcomed the court’s decision as a triumph for justice, underscoring the importance of community support in ensuring legal victories.
