N Chandrasekaran Stresses Synergy and Sustainability at XLRI Convocation

N Chandrasekaran honored with Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal at prestigious B-School event

Xavier School of Management marked its 68th Annual Convocation with a grand ceremony, awarding N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, for his contributions to industry and society.

JAMSHEDPUR – The convocation ceremony was highlighted by the presentation of the Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace to N Chandrasekaran, in recognition of his ethical leadership and commitment to societal and national interests.

Fr S George S.J., the Director, initiated the event with an academic procession and report, followed by an address from T V Narendran, CEO & MD of Tata Steel, and Chairman of XLRI, who also presented the award.

N Chandrasekaran expressed his gratitude for the honor, reflecting on the role of XLRI graduates in the business world and acknowledging the school’s influential alumni network.

He discussed the unique challenges and opportunities India faces today, including major transitions in energy, digital technology, and supply chains, and the Tata Group’s commitment to achieving 70% green energy by 2030.

Chandrasekaran outlined the Tata Group’s priorities: Simplification, Synergy, Sustainability, Supply Chain, and Digital Transformations, emphasizing the importance of integrity, strategy, execution, governance, and consistency.

He advised the graduating students to maintain a positive attitude, a winning mindset, and a strong work ethic for a successful career, highlighting their potential as the next generation of leaders.

The convocation served as a testament to XLRI’s longstanding tradition of excellence in management education and its role in shaping the future leaders of India.
