World Wetlands Day 2024 emphasizes the critical role of wetlands in sustaining humanity and the environment amid urban expansion.

JAMSHEDPUR – The significance of wetlands to both the planet and human welfare was the focal point of World Wetlands Day 2024, observed on February 2nd, amidst concerns over their diminishing presence due to urbanization and increased land demand.

Tata Steel Zoological Park took a proactive stance in highlighting these issues by hosting an event themed "Wetlands and Human Wellbeing," underscoring the pivotal role wetlands play in maintaining ecological balance and supporting human livelihoods.

Dr. Hishmi Jamil Husain, leading Biodiversity corporate services at Tata Steel Ltd, delivered an insightful talk on "Restoration of Wetlands and their sustainable use," shedding light on effective strategies for wetland conservation.

The day was marked by the enthusiastic participation of 304 students and teachers from Shyen International School, Mango, illustrating the educational community’s growing interest in environmental conservation.

The observance of World Wetlands Day 2024 at the Tata Steel Zoological Park serves as a reminder of the urgent need to protect these vital ecosystems for future generations, emphasizing the connection between wetland ecosystems and human wellbeing.
