Scott Cooper Questions ISL Scheduling and Referee Decisions After Jamshedpur’s Unfortunate Loss
Scott Cooper criticizes referee timing and unfair ISL scheduling after Jamshedpur FC loses to NorthEast United FC in a high-stakes match.
JAMSHEDPUR – Scott Cooper, head coach of Jamshedpur FC, fired a salvo at officials over added time in the loss to NorthEast United FC, stating it was a clear discrepancy.
Challenging the seven-minute injury time during the game, Cooper openly queried the rationale behind the extra minutes when there was just one water break and one injury.
Notably, Cooper added that this was not the first time Jamshedpur FC had been disadvantaged by the league’s scheduling. He pointed out that his team has consistently had fewer rest days compared to their opponents.
When asked about motivating his players for the next match, Cooper revealed the emotional and physical toll the defeat has taken on the team.
In a nod to the concerns raised about his team’s lack of goal-scoring, Cooper accepted that the offensive output had been lacking in the recent match. He urged his players, who have demonstrated the ability to score in the past, to step up their game.
The coach did credit NorthEast United FC for their fighting spirit but remained puzzled over the league’s scheduling and officiating decisions.
In a post-match press conference, Cooper said that he was pleased with the defensive aspect of Jamshedpur’s performance, but their inability to convert offensive opportunities was indeed a concern.
Concluding his remarks, Cooper stated that despite their strong defensive performance for 93 minutes, a couple of lapses in concentration cost them dearly in the added time.
