Tata Steel Foundation’s Johar Haat celebrates its 10th edition focusing on "Essence of Sohrai", showcasing tribal art and crafts from Jharkhand, Odisha, and Maharashtra.
JAMSHEDPUR – In a cultural kaleidoscope, the Tata Steel Foundation successfully organized the tenth edition of Johar Haat from October 14 to 20, 2023, based on the theme of "Essence of Sohrai".
Artisans and entrepreneurs from three states—Jharkhand, Odisha, and Maharashtra—gathered to showcase their unique arts and crafts, representing over five different tribal communities including Santhal, Ho, Gond, and Bhumij.
A variety of workshops were held throughout the week, including those focusing on Sohrai painting, jute craft, and tribal cuisine.
Johar Haat was conceptualized to serve as a monthly platform to celebrate and showcase the diverse art, craft, cuisine, and culture of tribes across India.
Notably, this exhibition marks a remarkable journey since its inception in January of this year.
