Zilla Parishad Delegation Meets Striking 108 Ambulance Workers

A delegation from Zilla Parishad met with Datali’s 108 ambulance workers, currently on strike due to five months of unpaid salaries, discussing their hardships and potential resolutions.

JAMSHEDPUR – In light of 108 ambulance workers being unpaid for the last five months, the workers, who serve the helpless and impoverished in rural areas, have been on strike for the past two days.

In response, a delegation from Zilla Parishad including President Bari Murmu, Vice President Pankaj Sinha, Former Vice President Rajkumar Singh, District Council Member and Congress State Secretary Dr. Paritosh Kumar, and District Council Representative Manik Malik, visited the striking workers at Sadar Hospital.

During the visit, the delegation interacted with the aggrieved workers and spoke with officers of the contracting company.

Bari Murmu, providing information about the interaction, expressed concern over the halt of the 108 ambulance service for the past two days in Jharkhand, which has severely impacted patients in rural areas.

The workers, distressed over the non-payment of salaries for five months, are having difficulties maintaining their families, while the contracting company’s approach remains indecisive.

Additionally, workers are being exploited with inadequate honorariums, incomplete PF disbursements, and a general disregard of labour laws by the agency.

The delegation has subsequently met with the Deputy Commissioner to discuss further action.
