First Monday of Sawan: Devotees Throng Baba Dham, City Reverberates with Chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’

Deoghar city is filled with Kavadia devotees on the first Monday of Sawan, offering water to Lord Shiva at Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga amidst rigorous security measures.

DEOGHAR – On the first Monday of Sawan, the city of Deoghar, home to the world-renowned Baba Baidyanath Jyotirlinga, has become a bustling pilgrimage site.

From midnight, devotees of Bhole Kavadia had started queuing to offer water to Lord Shiva, known as Bholenath.

The district administration has taken extensive measures to ensure a safe and smooth experience for the Kanwaris, deploying local police, magistrates, NDRF, a Quick Response Team, and a health department team.

Moreover, the District Magistrate of Deoghar is personally monitoring the entire system, including the Baba Mandir.

Over five hundred CCTV cameras have been installed to surveil the Mela area, and an Integrated Mela Control Room has been set up at Nehru Park, adjacent to Sivaganga.

From there, every aspect of Deoghar is being monitored, ensuring an unprecedented level of safety for the devotees.

The first Monday of Sawan is believed to hold special significance, as offering water to Aadidev Mahadev on this day is thought to bring desired results.

However, as today’s Monday also falls under the Panchak, the temple priests advise that women who wish to fast for the first time in their life should not do so on this day.
