Ranchi Centre of Indian Meteorological Department forecasts widespread rain and thundershowers in Jharkhand, with potential heavy downpours in isolated areas.

RANCHI – The Ranchi Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts widespread rain and thundershowers for most parts of Jharkhand today.

Some remote areas might also experience heavy rain, warn meteorologists.

The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level is currently passing through Bikaner, Kota, Raisen, Mandla, Ambikapur, Balasore, and further into the east-central Bay of Bengal.

The cyclonic circulation over the northern and adjacent central Bay of Bengal has moved southwest, located now over Gangetic West Bengal and the adjacent northern Odisha, at elevations of 1.5 and 7.6 km above mean sea level.

Various locations in the state have witnessed light to moderate rain, indicating ongoing mild monsoon activity.

Despite these developments, the state is experiencing below-average rainfall.

To date, Jharkhand has received about 40% less rain than its typical average—148.3 mm compared to the usual 246.2 mm, according to the meteorological agency’s statistics.
