Koderma Forest Guard Arrested for Accepting Rs 4,000 Bribe

Hazaribagh Anti-Corruption Bureau nabs a forest guard from Koderma for receiving a bribe to facilitate wood transportation.

RANCHI – The Hazaribagh Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a forest guard in Koderma for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.

He was apprehended near the Shivam petrol pump within the Koderma police station jurisdiction. The accused works in the Koderma Forest Division.

A complaint against the forest guard was filed by S Kumar, a resident of Chittiaro in Koderma.

In his complaint, Kumar claimed that he had purchased a Eucalyptus tree planted on A Modi’s ryati land, which is TP free.

The tree needed to be transported a few miles for shredding, an operation requiring the forest guard’s endorsement. However, the guard, identified as A Kumar, demanded a Rs 5,000 bribe for the approval.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, Kumar lodged a complaint with the Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Hazaribagh, for necessary action.

Upon verification, the bribe demand of Rs 4,000 was confirmed to be true, leading to the registration of an ABC case on June 26, 2023.

On June 27, 2023, A Kumar was arrested red-handed by the Hazaribagh trap team in the presence of the Magistrate of ACB, Hazaribagh, and two independent witnesses while accepting the bribe of Rs 4,000. Further action is underway following the arrest.
