Global Celebration of 9th International Day of Yoga Sees Record Participation

International Day of Yoga 2023, the ninth edition, celebrated across the globe with new initiatives and mass participation, under the leadership of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

DESK – The 9th edition of International Day of Yoga 2023 was celebrated with fervor worldwide, marking significant growth in participation and the introduction of new initiatives unique to this year’s event.

Over 15,000 people took part in the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) demonstration at the central national event in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, graced by the Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Notable attendees included Madhya Pradesh Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Union Minister of Ayush & Ministry of Ports Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai, Union Minister of State for Ayush and Women & Child Development, as well as cabinet ministers, MPs, state ministers, and Ministry of Ayush officials.

In his address, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar noted that Yoga has become a global phenomenon thanks to the efforts of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, emphasizing its benefits for humanity and its growing economic impact.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, currently in the United States, addressed the nation via a video message, underlining the health and social benefits of Yoga and its role in fostering a strong, healthy society.

Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal applauded the Prime Minister’s vision, highlighting how International Day of Yoga 2023 is set to amplify the message of universal well-being globally.

Madhya Pradesh’s Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel affirmed Yoga’s relevance to the younger generation, while Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan announced plans to incorporate Yoga into the school curriculum in Madhya Pradesh.

This year’s event was highlighted by the creation of an Ocean Ring of Yoga, with coordinated yoga demonstrations onboard Indian naval ships stationed at various global ports and countries with maritime cooperation and merchant shipping agreements with India.
