JAMSHEDPUR – In a tragic incident, P Kumari (23), originally from Motihari, Bihar, was allegedly murdered over dowry demands in Telco Kharangajhar, Jamshedpur.
N Kumar, the victim’s brother, accused his sister’s in-laws of the crime.
According to N Kumar, P Kumari’s parents were uninformed about her death. After noticing her unresponsive mobile phone, N Kumar called his brother-in-law, A Kumar, who informed him that P Kumari had committed suicide by hanging herself.
However, N Kumar is adamant that his sister was murdered and then made to appear as a suicide. A Kumar has been absconding since the incident.
N Kumar also revealed the presence of numerous injury marks on P Kumari’s body. The local station in-charge has confirmed that a case has been registered and investigations are underway.
Tensions rose during the post-mortem examination when members of the two families clashed over the location of her last rites.
After police intervention, an agreement was reached to take her body to Motihari for the rites.
N Kumar and other family members have alleged continuous harassment for dowry since P Kumari’s marriage.
They alleged that the in-laws had demanded a car as part of the dowry, while only a bullet bike and other items had been given during the wedding.
They claimed that the husband often quarreled over the non-provision of the car.
They were married on February, 2022.
The victim’s body was discovered on June 3, hanging in their house.
