Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Odisha, promising all possible aid to the victims and asserting that an intensive investigation will be carried out.
DESK – Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Odisha to assess the rescue and relief operations in the aftermath of the devastating train accident in Balasore.
The Prime Minister made visits to both the accident site and the hospital where the injured are currently receiving treatment.
He extended his deep condolences to those affected by this massive tragedy, many of whom were travellers from different states.
The Prime Minister assured that no effort would be spared in providing the necessary medical aid to the injured. He emphasized that the government stands firmly with the families who have suffered losses in this disaster.
Instructions have been issued to conduct a comprehensive and swift investigation into the tragedy, and strict action will be taken against any individuals found culpable, said the Prime Minister.
He acknowledged and commended the efforts of the Odisha government, local administration, and the local populace, especially the youth, who worked tirelessly through the night to aid ongoing efforts.
He also praised local citizens who turned up in large numbers to donate blood for the injured.
The Prime Minister confirmed that the Railways is actively working on rescue and relief operations, as well as expediting the restoration of rail tracks.
He stressed on a ‘whole of government’ approach to address the tragedy during his interaction with local authorities, disaster relief personnel, and railway officials.
In a heartfelt message, he said, "I don’t have words to express this pain. But may God give us all the strength to come out of this sad time as soon as possible. I am sure that we will learn a lot from these incidents as well and will take forward our arrangements as much as possible giving priority to the safety of the citizens. It is a sad time, let us all pray for these families."
