The family of Jamuna Kalindi, who tragically died when a tree fell on their home in Kadma, still awaits government assistance as new threats loom.
JAMSHEDPUR – Over a week has passed since the tragic incident that took the life of Jamuna Kalindi in Kadma. However, till date no government aid or assistance of any kind has reached her family.
Despite expectations that the local MLA, Banna Gupta, and the district administration would step in to provide assistance, the family and local residents report that they have yet to receive any help.
In the township near the Jayaprabha Complex, a strong storm caused a eucalyptus tree to collapse onto the Kalindi home. Jamuna Kalindi, the elder of two sisters, was killed instantly, while the younger sister survived with injuries.
The house was significantly damaged, with the roof shattered by the falling tree. Now, the affected family is sheltering in another person’s home, struggling to cope with their loss.
Local residents fear that a similar incident could happen again, given the presence of two more large eucalyptus trees in the area.
They claim that these trees shake from the root in high winds, causing apprehension among the residents.
Some even choose to temporarily relocate when the wind picks up.
Following a week without any help from local government officials, the locality residents reached out to BJP leaders Kunal Sarangi and Vikas Singh, detailing their concerns.
Sarangi and Singh assured the locals that they would arrange for ration and roofing materials for the affected family.
Sarangi also called the Sub-Divisional Officer while on site, pushing for expedited disaster management compensation for the family.
As the family and the locality residents wait for assistance and action, the memory of the tragic incident lingers, serving as a grim reminder of the potential danger posed by the remaining trees.
